In this Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX review, I share my experience with these electric inflators and compare them with the less powerful Cycplus AS2 (Cube).

KEY TAKEAWAY

Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX are handy electric pumps that inflate tires for you. Their display and longer battery life allow you to conveniently inflate tires not only on your bicycle. Due to its size and weight, I find the AS2 PRO MAX less suitable for storage in a saddle bag.

The main difference between Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX is that the PRO MAX has about 30% longer battery life, but it is less suitable for taking on the bike due to its weight (120 vs. 205g). Continue reading for more info, or buy the AS2 PRO or the AS2 PRO MAX from Cycplus.

Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX Features & Specs

The following table compares the AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX with the less powerful AS2. By the way, the naming sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Cycplus has taken inspiration from Apple and its iPhone range.

Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX Inflation Tests

According to Cycplus, AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX can inflate 700×25 mm tires to 80 PSI in 50 seconds. I wanted to double-check this, so I grabbed the front wheel from my old bike and started measuring.

The PRO inflated 100 PSI into 700×25 mm in 58 seconds. Surprisingly, the PRO MAX inflated it 7 seconds slower when inflating to the same pressure. However, I’ve set the inflation pressure to 110 PSI, so maybe it inflated more slowly to avoid overheating.

What’s cool about AS2 PRO and PRO MAX is the display, unlike the AS2, which allows you to set the exact tire pressure you want to inflate.

Despite a more powerful compressor, I can inflate the desired tire pressures faster with a floor pump. But that requires work. The electric inflators are super convenient.

Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX Accuracy Tests

The AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX do have a display showing inflation pressure. According to specifications, their accuracy is ±1 PSI. Unfortunately, I don’t have a manometer, so I couldn’t double-check the accuracy. I just noticed that when removing the inflator head, you have to be careful to avoid air leaks.

Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX Pros & Cons

After using AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX and comparing them with AS2, I summarize their pros and cons as follows:

Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX Pros

  • Effortless inflation
  • Protective silicone case included
  • Compatible with Schrader and Presta valves
  • Display for setting the exact tire pressure
  • USB-C charging port

Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX Pros Cons

  • Pricier than mini bike pumps
  • Noisy inflation
  • Relatively short battery life
  • No IPX6 resistance
  • AS2 PRO MAX is too heavy to carry in a saddle bag

The Cycplus AS2 PRO and AS2 PRO MAX offer several advantages compared to the smaller AS2. The most obvious one is the display and buttons that let you set the exact tire pressure. I also like that they come with a silicone case that protects them against damage.

They are compatible with Schrader and Presta valves, and the packing includes a short hose and a ball needle.

On the other hand, the AS2 PRO MAX weighs 205g and is too heavy to carry in a saddle bag (especially if you are a road cyclist). The AS2 Pro is only about 23g heavier than the AS2, so it’s still okay. All these electric inflators are also pricier than mini bike pumps and are noisy during inflation. Their battery life is also limited to just a few full inflations, so I recommend having them fully charged.

My Verdict

While I find the Cycplus AS2 PRO still somehow suitable for cycling due to its dimensions and weight, the AS2 PRO MAX is already too big and heavy for carrying in a saddle bag, especially if you are a roadie.

When comparing the AS2 and AS2 Pro, I prefer the AS2 Pro because its display allows me to inflate the exact tire pressure. It also has a slightly longer battery life. The AS2 Max basically only offers a bigger battery life. It can be handy when inflating car or motorbike tires. You also don’t mind carrying a few grams more in these vehicles.
