Winspace just released a new version of their C5 frame. It’s called C5 Aero, and it’s been pretty heavily redesigned. Now, it features deeper tube profiles, resulting in a more aero-like-looking frame.

While the first generation of the C5 resembled an all-rounder endurance bike, the C5 Aero is much closer to an aero bike. It will be interesting to see whether it will cannibalize Winspace’s flagship, T1550 Gen 2.

What’s New?

The C5 Aero impresses with lower weight compared to the C5. An unpainted M-size frame should weigh around 900g. That’s pretty impressive, considering its bulkiness. This lower weight is achieved by T900 and M Series High-modulus Carbon. For comparison, the Winspace SLC3 is a lightweight 700g frame, and the T1550 Gen 2 is around 828g.

Updated: Jul 3, 2025.

Another notable change you notice at first sight is tube shaping. Look at the following pictures, where you can see Winspace C5, C5 Aero, and T1550 Gen 2 beside each other. You can see that the C5 Aero and T1550 Gen 2 are almost the same. They differ mainly in fork and seatstays connection.

The C5 Aero looks like a completely different frame. It has much deeper tube profiles. Winspace claims C5 Aero saves “4.6W at 40km/h crosswind” in other words, 5 minutes over 100 km. This is most likely a comparison with C5. Considering the drastic changes, I expected a bit more, but it’s still a “passive” speed improvement, so I take it.

I’m sure many of you will appreciate the threaded T47 bottom bracket. I have it on my Winspace Agile frame, and its installation was pretty easy, or at least easier, compared to a press-fit BB86.

The tire clearance remained the same. You can fit 32mm tires into it, which is today’s standard. I plan to try 32mm tires instead of the 28mm ones. They should be much more comfortable and maybe even faster. The geometry also remained the same as the C5’s. It’s a bit more aggressive than the T1550 Gen 2. You can see the geometry chart below.

The number of color options is limited to three now but will likely grow in the future. I’m not a fan of either of those, but you will definitely stand out from the crowd with them, especially with the graffiti one.

Unfortunately, the price has also increased, but just a bit, from $1380 to $1480. Remember that you can use my discount code below, which gives you 10% off.
