Bicycle radars have become popular, thanks to Garmin and its Varia lineup. The Varia RTL515 is one of the most used gadgets among road cyclists. It helps improve road safety by alerting riders to what’s happening behind them. The radar notifies the cyclist when a vehicle or another object approaches. It works like a high-tech bicycle mirror.
The Garmin Varia RCT715 is an upgraded version with a built-in camera that records video. This feature lets riders capture footage that can serve as evidence in case of an incident.
For years, Varia radars had no real competition. That changed at Eurobike 2022 when Magene launched the L508 radar and Bryton released the Gardia R300L. In 2025, Wahoo joined the market with the TRACKR Radar.
