Watch my video summary of day 1, or read my written report below.

Here is additional information about the video:

This is the first video of this kind I made. It was completely unscripted and improvised. It contains some grammatical and maybe even factual errors. After about 9 hours in the fair, I edited the video until 11:24 pm. I was super tired but also determined to share my findings with you. Unlike larger channels, I don’t have the luxury of a dedicated cameraman or editor. Some of my clips also had broken audio, so the video has no proper intro. So, please bear with me and excuse any mistakes. I believe it’s worth watching.

And here is the written summary of day 1. Make sure to also read day 2 (Asian Brands) and day 3 (Campagnolo Super Record WRL riding impression).

I am in Frankfurt, visiting the Eurobike 2023, one of the world’s biggest cycling fairs. My day started at 5 am as I was pretty nervous about how I’d pull everything off.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as we waited before the gates opened. Right in the morning, I met DC Rainmaker and GP Lama. We had a quick chat about power meters, bike trainers, and more. These guys are so humble, and I’m grateful I got to meet them.

I explored the exhibition halls, taking in the latest innovations and cutting-edge technology. My goal was to find the most interesting tech.

The World Tour team bikes caught my eye, especially the Wilier Astana-Qazaqstan, the most beautiful bike in the pro peloton.

The Schindlerhauer super polished aluminum bike’s exclusive finish showcased unparalleled craftsmanship. Its price has not been set yet, but it will probably exceed $10,000!

I stumbled upon the 3T booth (and later the Classified booth), where they showcased 1X SRAM with a Classified hub, providing a seamless and efficient shifting experience. I tried it and was impressed. But after a quick chat with two engineers (more about them later), I became more skeptical, as the claimed efficiency may not be as high.

You know, Eurobike is about bikes, and there are many unique pieces here. I want to highlight Jonathan Milan’s Giro 2023 Merida Reacto, Bahrain Victorious Tour de France 2023 Edition Merida Reacto, Primož Roglič’s Giro d’Italia 2023 Winning Cervelo S5, Annemiek van Vleuten’s Tour de France Femmes 2022 Canyon Aeroad, or Cervelo S5 ridden by Jonas Vingegaard during his victorious Tour de France 2022.

I was blown away by Wiawis’s superlightweight graphene/carbon road bike frame. It’s called Venter 6, and its finish is gorgeous. The weight is incredibly low (680g for size S). You can learn more about it in the Wiawis product catalog.

The distinctive seat stays on the Titici and Seiren bikes caught my eye because they resemble the Trek Madone IsoFlow. The first one looked different, and the latter was 100% 3D-printed titanium!

Factor road bikes did a sneak peek of their upcoming road bike – but they didn’t tell me more info except for the release date, which will be on the 10th of July.

The Felt “spaceship” triathlon bike looks like a bike from the future but also costs a fortune (over 15K USD).

Campagnolo booth only showcased one product – Campagnolo Super Record WRL. It’s honestly terrible. The FD and RD are too large. The hoods are not as ergonomic as the Shimano ones. And the price exceeds $5,000. Unfortunately, manufacturers are tied by patents – and it works (for Shimano and SRAM).

I had a very interesting chat with Björn Jeurissen, Agu CEO. We’ve discussed the R&D of clothing and helmets for the Jumbo-Visma, aerodynamics, and their latest aero road bike helmet, Agu Transsonic. He claims it’s the fastest aero road bike helmet on the market now (even faster than Evade 3). But it’s important to say that it really depends on the methodology and conditions in which the helmet is measured.

I also came across a cost-effective alternative to bike radars that offers cyclists added safety on the road. It’s called TriEye sunglasses, which is pretty interesting tech.

I ended the day by meeting Hambini and Peak Torque. Thankfully, I didn’t get reamed. Lol.
