This article compares Winspace (Lún) road bike wheels, such as the HYPER 2023, HYPER 23 SE, HYPER Light, Lún Road Series, Lún Routte Series, and more. You will learn the differences between them, and I will try to help you decide which ones to choose.
I’ve already tested the HYPER 2020, HYPER 3, HYPER SE 23, and Lún MEGA, so I have personal experience with some of these wheels.
KEY TAKEAWAY
HYPER and MEGA wheels are more premium than the Road and Routte Series. They usually differ in weight, price, rim width, and spokes. If you want the stiffest wheels, go for MEGA. HYPER wheels are still pretty stiff and durable, but are more affordable and lighter. The HYPER SE series offers the best value for money, as they are typically 95% identical to the HYPERs. They only differ in bearings (steel vs. ceramic) but are much cheaper. Lún Routte Series (especially the Routte 3 introduced in 2025) are even cheaper than HYPER SE and have become a very tempting choice.

About Winspace
Winspace was founded in 2011. They develop and produce high-end carbon frames, wheels, and other accessories. They focus mainly on road and gravel bike wheels, frames, and accessories. Winspace also develops its own parts, such as hubs and spokes. In 2020, they established an in-house brand called Lún. The word Lún means a “wheel” in Chinese.

Why Lún?
Some bike brands, such as Trek, have created separate in-house brands like Bontrager for wheels and accessories. This allows customers to avoid putting a direct competitor’s brand on their bike, as Bontrager isn’t perceived as direct competition, even though it is owned by Trek.
Winspace faced a similar situation. As its main grew in popularity, riders may not want Winspace wheels on bikes from other brands. By marketing Lún as an independent wheel brand, Winspace can avoid this issue and appeal to a broader range of customers.

So, what are the differences between individual wheel lines? They usually mainly differ in weight, rim width, spoke type, and price. Check out the following table for details.

Comparison of weights of Lún (Winspace) wheels with information about the rim depths and spoke type.
Updated on July 16, 2025.
In short, Winspace has the following wheel lines:
- Lún HYPER (HYPER 3, HYPER 5, HYPER Light, HYPER SE)
- MEGA
- Routte
- Road Series
I go into more depth below.
HYPER Wheels in Detail
HYPER wheels set the benchmark for quality Chinese wheels around 2020. The current lineup includes HYPER 23, HYPER 23 SE, HYPER 3, HYPER Light, and HYPER 5. The HYPER series is known for high stiffness, thanks to carbon spokes, excellent durability, various rim depths, and ceramic bearings. Early HYPER models featured a butterfly rim finish, but this design has been discontinued since the HYPER 3. Below, you can see some of the models I tested, along with their visual differences.

The following section lists HYPER lines in chronological order and explains the differences between them.
Main differences between HYPER wheel lines
- HYPER 2020: Original construction with carbon spokes, ceramic bearings, and a butterfly rim finish.
- HYPER 23: Adds more rim depth options, wider rims, lighter weight, and higher cost while keeping the butterfly rim.
- HYPER 23 SE: Keeps carbon spokes but uses steel bearings, switches to a matte rim, and is heavier and more affordable.
- HYPER 3: Features wider carbon spokes and rims, uses ceramic bearings and a matte rim, is lighter than HYPER 23, costs more, and is not made for rim brakes.
- HYPER Light: The lightest option, with carbon spokes, ceramic bearings, matte rim, and an even higher price.
- HYPER 5: Offers hidden nipples on top of other high-end features, making it the lightest and one of the most advanced in the lineup.
If you’d like to learn more, I recommend reading my HYPER 3 review or watching my video review below.
In summary, HYPER wheels are stiff and durable, maintaining their momentum well, but struggle slightly in crosswinds (not as much since the 3rd generation).
The HYPER SE is a “lower-end” version of HYPERs that has steel bearings, a different rim finish, and a lower price tag. Most of the ride qualities are basically identical. You can again read my HYPER SE review or watch the following video for more details.
And here is my review of the HYPER 2020 wheels, which were in a league of their own when released, but are now discontinued and replaced by newer generations.
Lún MEGA
Lún MEGA wheels are the stiffest wheels I tested. This stiffness is achieved thanks to HALO spokes. One side of the spokes is one piece and can be replaced (unlike on Lightweight wheels) if one spoke breaks.

These wheels are fast and extremely stiff, but also expensive, uncomfortable on bad roads, and quite narrow by today’s standards (21mm [I], 27.6 [E]). I have an in-depth review of MEGA wheels, so you can learn more.
Lún Routte and Road Series
First, Winspace had the Road Series wheels, but it seems they are slowly discontinuing them and focusing on the Routte. Routte started to be outdated since around 2024 due to their specifications, but this changes with Routte 3. This generation offers 25mm internal and 34mm external width, carbon spokes, and a 1390g weight at a 50mm rim depth for $949, making it a very tempting option.

My Verdict
When selecting your next set of road bike wheels, think about what matters most to you. Is it stiffness? Is it comfort? Is it low-weight? Answering these questions will help you decide which wheelset to choose.
Winspace offers a wide range of wheels to suit various needs and budgets. If you’re chasing top-level performance and maximum stiffness, the MEGA series sits at the top. With HALO carbon spokes and a premium build, it’s an impressive setup—but it comes with a high price tag, and the ride will feel harsh on rough roads compared to “softer” steel-spoked wheels.
The HYPER series—like the HYPER 3, HYPER 5, HYPER Light, and HYPER 23 SE—offers excellent stiffness, durability, and low weight, all at a more reasonable price point. The HYPER SE stands out for value: you get most of the high-end features, but with steel bearings and a matte finish to help keep the cost down. Ride quality is still nearly identical to the pricier models.
If you’re on a tighter budget, the new Routte 3 wheels from the Lún series are definitely worth a look. For $949, you get a 50mm deep wheelset that weighs only 1390g, with carbon spokes and a wide 25mm internal rim. I think it will become a popular option among more budget-oriented riders.
